Winner - Robert Cocliff

Robert was nominated by his family and friends for a beautiful garden that is full of bloom. His family said a lot of planning goes into the garden ready for the summer months when it all comes together.

Robert’s daughter said she is so proud of how it turns out and said his hanging baskets are especially impressive. She said that when people walk past his bungalow, they always stop to admire his garden and he loves getting compliments from strangers.

Robert’s passion for his own garden has inspired his neighbours to follow suit and make amazing spaces of their own.

2nd - John Hawes

John said he feels privileged to have been able to peruse his passion for gardening and for being able to share his amazing work with his neighbours. He has created an incredible space which he opens to others as a communal style garden.

John said he is proud of the impact of his work and to see the wildlife that his garden attracts. His garden features a range of mature planting, immaculately maintained lawns and other features that make it just magical.

3rd - Stamford Bridge in Bloom

The Members and volunteers of Stamford Bridge in Bloom are proud of their village community, its heritage, its wildlife and the local environment. They do a lot of work preserving the history of this historic settlement and creating a beautiful village environment for everyone to enjoy.

Many from this area who travel to the east coast will take the road through Stamford Bridge, taking in the picturesque bridge with the river below. Stamford Bridge in Bloom is an ongoing project which relies on funding from the local parish council, businesses and other external funders.

Volunteers plant and hang baskets, make and install planters and have even gone as far as helping to renovate the station. The groups next project is refurbishing the Viking Ship planter, they will be working with students at York College to ensure that the history and heritage of the area remains the focus for the community and future generations.
